"Hello, Mr Bond" she declared. The handsome actor Daniel Craig arrived to escort Queen Elizabeth to the London 2010 Olympic games.
Click on this "Queen/Bond" image here to replay that amusing opening scene during which the Queen appeared to jump out of the helicopter. Adorning her stoic leadership, poise and grace was her wonderful sense of humour. From teasing world presidents on their faux pas to famously avoiding her own identity when encountering unsuspecting tourists in Scotland. |
Born in 1926, the same year in which my father was born in Vancouver, Queen Elizabeth first set foot on Canadian soil in 1951 when she was just 25 years old and still a princess. She made that visit to Canada in place of her ailing father and came with her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh,. Two years later in 1953, she was crowned Queen after the death of her father, King George VI.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II became the patron of 36 charities across Canada and a total of more than 600 charities and organizations worldwide that crossed her interests such as education, health, science, the environment, and the arts. The QES program has awarded more than 2,200 scholarships since its inauguration in 2012. Her life was filled with duty, challenges, scandals and more. No institution likes an inside scoop more than the British press. |
As a tribute to her legacy, we remember the Queen's embodiment of grace, steadfastness and service with honourable mention of her sense of humour and more down-to-earth side.
